การแข่งขันฟุตบอลโลก 2022 รอบสุดท้ายที่กาตาร์ เปิดฉากนัดแรกไปแล้วเมื่อคืนวันที่ 20 พ.ย. ที่ผ่านมา แม้ผู้ชมคนไทยจะได้รับการสนับสนุนค่าใช้จ่ายลิขสิทธิ์ถ่ายทอดสดจากเงินกองทุนของ กสทช. 600 ล้านบาท ร่วมกับภาคเอกชน แต่กลุ่มผู้ชมบางส่วนจะไม่มีสิทธิรับชม เพราะเงื่อนไขที่ "กลุ่มทรู" ผู้ได้สิทธิ์ถ่ายทอดสดกว่าครึ่งของแมตช์ฟุตบอลโลก อ้างถึงเรื่องทรัพย์สินทางปัญญา

ลูกค้ากล่องไอพีทีวี ระบบอินเทอร์เน็ต ระบบโทรศัพท์เคลื่อนที่ และระบบโอทีที (OTT) อื่น จะดูถ่ายทอดสดฟุตบอลโลกไม่ได้ ตามหนังสือที่ทาง "กลุ่มทรู" โดยนายจักรกฤษณ์ อุไรรัตน์ รอง ผอ. ด้านรัฐกิจสัมพันธ์ บริษัท ทรู คอร์ปอเรชั่น จำกัด (มหาชน) ออกหนังสือ เรื่อง การแจ้งสิทธิการถ่ายทอดการแข่งขันฟุตบอลโลกรอบสุดท้าย เมื่อ 20 พ.ย.
